I would say that the atmosphere was very welcoming. Looking for a place to take on more responsibility and face fresh challenges.
Duties also included general store maintenance as well as restocking customer order forms, dealing with customer complaints, scheduling appliance delivery times and dates and assisting with the set up of promotional displays. As a Sales Assistant I was also responsible for my own product research and knowledge as necessary to help boost sales figures. Customers came either with preplanned ideas for vacation travel or a general idea of a few destination locations.
It was my responsibility to sell travel packages and make trip arrangements for customers including selling and booking travel arrangements by plane, train, or cruise vacations, locate hotel or other sleeping accommodations and inform customers of tourist attractions for the selected vacation destination. I also accompanied other Sales Assistants in researching local hotel and tourist attractions for updated information about these destinations. I also interacted with customers face to face when they came in to meet with Sales Assistants, I recorded customer name and who they were there to meet with in the computerized daily log which notified the Sales assistant that they had customers waiting.
I also delivered customer phone messages to sales assistants when required. I get along well with my co-workers but work better independently with some management interaction and monitoring. I have some basic team leadership skills, and have lead small teams of other Sales Assistants during in-store monthly sales competitions. I find this only boosts my sales and customer problem resolution rates if a customer contacts me about problems with a previously sold appliance. I also have moderate experience with Microsoft Word.
Counting money sometimes if it was just me and the manager. How would you describe the application and interview process? I asked the manager for an application and I applied. Interview process was basic questions about my experience in retail and things of that nature. What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview? It was mostly related to the retail industry. So, that was the question that stuck out to me.
What set you apart from other candidates? What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment? If you just go in there with a positive, optimist attitude, everything will flow and it will be a good experience.
We would have to set up all the clothes, fold them the right way, and put them in size order. Whenever we had sales, we have to stay in until two in the morning sometimes setting everything up. Weekends were a little more hectic.
On weekdays, I feel like it was a little slower. It was kind of like what they needed. They just asked the basic questions of what would you bring to this company or what were your past experiences. They asked me about my school, and if I had been in team based activities since you have to work with people.
I told them the clubs I was in at school. I was on the track team, and stuff like that. They wanted to make sure you could work with people.
Just be very confident in your interview.
